Hi! I’m Carlie, the founder of Real Active. I’m so happy you’ve found us. I think it’s important to share my story and why Real Active (and mental health) is so close to my heart.

Anxiety and depression are something I’ve always struggled with. I remember having my first panic attack while sitting an exam at school when I was just 16. As I have grown older and more connected to myself, I have discovered how much my lifestyle affects my mental health – what foods I nourish my body with, how active I am, who I choose to surround myself with and how much love I show myself and others.

2016 was a really tough year for me – I struggled with the loss of my Nan who I was very close to, along with many other challenges. My anxiety was at an all-time high and my mood at the lowest of lows. But with such a challenging year comes reflection, and a reminder of just how short life is.

I started to dream of ways I could make a living doing what I am passionate about and help others suffering with their mental health. And so the seed of Real Active grew. I know how motivated I feel when I have new products that help with my health goals and I’ve always wondered why accessories (especially towels and drink bottles!) don’t reflect the awesome activewear out there. So I went on a mission to design and source the most beautiful and functional drink bottles and towels possible. And in January 2017 Real Active was born.

I found incredible mental health charity partners, those that would really benefit from our help – not only from the money we raise (10% of the proceeds from Real Active sales go towards these charities), but from the time spent volunteering with them and the awareness raised within our awesome community.

We’ve grown so much since we started and have recently expanded our range into apparel and have big goals for the future. We have thousands of happy customers from 39 countries all over the world and an inspiring, passionate community.

Thank you so much for your support. I hope you use your Real Active products with pride, knowing you are helping make a real difference. I also hope they help open up the conversation around mental health. Because these issues are real – and we were born to be real, not perfect.
